Using SQL to Query SIP Trunks

This post is in response to a query I received on Twitter:

@ucguerrilla - Would you have a SQL query in your toolbox to list SIP trunks with ip address, or point me in the right direction?

This is an interesting question because the tables you need to look at may not be as obvious as seen with other queries where we need to join tables. So, let's take a look at what is involved with this query and possibly touch on some related queries.

Dealing with Provisional Response and SIP 183 Messages with SDP

A month or so ago, I was deploying a solution integrating SIP trunks from a CLEC with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE). While running through the ol' validation routine, I came across an issue with SIP provisional response. Normally, we wouldn't have hit this problem because of the way we provision SIP trunks. However, this time around the integration guide for the ITSP had a configuration requirement that hindered our ability to support provisional acknowledgements.

The interesting thing about this particular issue is that if you weren't looking for it, you probably wouldn't catch it. Normal call setup was working fine. But when you called certain numbers you would receive ringing when you are expecting the call to be treated with an IVR.

There are a couple of ways of dealing with provisional SIP responses. The following covers some of the techniques I tested/used.

I have always found the tool to be very useful and it has become increasingly powerful over the years. Recently, I have become remiss in my duties and haven't paid as close attention as I should have to some of the niftier features of RTMT. You get kind of used to going to same interfaces/menus/etc. Fortunately,  a colleague at one of my customers showed me the Session Trace interface. It was nifty enough to warrant a blurb I think.

CounterPath Bria for iPhone version 2.0.2 - Update

In January I posted a blog on my NetCraftsmen blog site discussing the CounterPath Bria for iPhone Version 2.0. During my testing of 2.0 I came across a few issues that were to be addressed in version 2.0.1. Version 2.0.1 hit the AppStore in early February. I loaded the app, looking forward to doing some testing in the home lab. Fortunately, I was delayed due to work obligations. I say fortunately because version 2.0.2 was released on March 3rd. Anyway, I wanted to give an update to my original blog.
